I normally don’t watch or even like Hetalia, but the most recent episode did tug on my heart strings a little bit. It touched on a lot of concepts that I’m always fascinated by, including the fleeting nature of human life and the burden of immortality. When you’re immortal, you get to watch everyone else live and love, never really knowing what it’s like to exist that way. There are so many things you just can’t do, no matter how much you’d like to. So you just have to live vicariously, through those who can experience those things, watching generation after generation pass and everyone you come to know and love die.
We explore these themes a lot with our state personifications, so I’m glad it was touched upon in the Hetalia canon. I wish that there were more of these kinds of moments in APH. More existentialism, less camp. lol.
Anyway, I just quickly sketched out the two random humans. lol. Do they have names or what?
Oops I doodled fluffy Coahuila y Tejas.
I was reading how Coahuila is famous for like…colorful cloth (sarapes) so I really should have colored this, but…idk, maybe later.
I feel like I never draw Coa right. OTL.

I’ve been waiting for like 3 hours don’t even judge me.Anyway, I wanted to draw something nice for Kansas’ birthday. :) (Which is today, January 29, the day KS became a state). I really can’t overstate enough how oddly sentimental this day is to me, lol. Back in grade school, we always did random stuff for it
like having humiliatingly awkward square dances and eating sunflower-shaped cookies.I really should not look back on those times fondly, but for some reason, I do…sometimes. pft.So yeah…have Laura with a plane. Ain’t nothin’ she loves more than planes.
Today she is turning 152, but no one really cares cause the sesquicentennial was in 2011. :P

When I was a kid, the 1998 version of Madeline by Ludwig Bemelmens was my favorite movie ever. I must have watched it at least 5000 times. I knew it word for word. haha.
Anyway, way back I was watching this with my friend and we were were talking about how Madeline and Pepito would grow up and have a totally complicated tsundere relationship going on. And how they’d go on dates on a Vespa and Madeline would drive. Way too fast. And run over things. And generally wreak havoc, because that’s what she does.
So yeah I drew this foreeeeeveeeer ago (October 2011) so it’s kinda bad. :P It’s my most favorited thing on DA, but I wanted to post it here too. Just cause.

I didnt sketch or anything, haha. I feel like I finally get what my painting teacher was trying to say, that sketching and seeing things in lines is only tripping me up when it comes to painting. So yeah. :)
